Sacred Journey Counseling

Why Sacred Journey Counseling?

Sacred Journey Counseling began as a dream during Stacie's graduate course work in Professional Counseling at Amberton University. She recognized through her own experience, as a client, the sacred value of the therapeutic relationship and began visualizing a counseling practice that would honor the journey that must be embarked upon to achieve emotional and mental well-being and healing.

Sacred Journey Counseling is a place for you to begin your own journey. We will walk with you when you need to walk; we will run with you when the need arises; and, we will sit and be still when you need to rest. Your journey is yours. We are here to guide, to go with you into the dark places that one need not journey into alone. We have been there, and we are here to help you through.

The path to healing and wholeness is a journey best to be embarked upon with an experienced guide. Let us be that guide for you.

What is Psychodrama?

According to the American Society of Group Psychotherapy and Psychodrama (ASGPP), Psychodrama was "conceived and developed by Jacob L. Moreno, MD. Psychodrama employs guided dramatic action to examine problems or issues raised by an individual (Psychodrama) or a group (Sociodrama). Using experiential methods, Sociometry, role theory, and group dynamics, psychodrama facilitates insight, personal growth, and integration on cognitive, affective, and behavioral levels. It clarifies issues, increases physical and emotional well being, enhances learning and develops new skills.

Stacie has trained in Psychodrama for almost 10 years and has found the method useful with group and individual clients alike to move into and through areas of healing that are sometimes difficult to speak of.

What is Bioenergetic Analysis?

According to the International Institute of Bioenergetic Analysis, Bioenergetic Analysis "is a specific form of body-psychotherapy – based upon the continuity between body and mind - rooted in the work of Wilhelm Reich and founded by Alexander Lowen.

Bioenergetic Analysis basically combines a bodily, analytic and relational therapeutic work, based upon an energetic understanding.

Bioenergetic Analysis helps to release chronic muscular tensions, manage affects, expand the capacity for intimacy, heal sexual difficulties and learn new, more fulfilling ways of relating to others. Tenderness, aggression, assertion – and their confluence in sexuality – are seen as core lifesaving forces. The therapeutic relationship provides a place of safety in which healing begins."

Stacie has trained with the Dallas Society for Bioenergetic Analysis.

Stacie L. Smith, MA, LPC

Stacie utilizes an eclectic approach to counseling; drawing on her training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Psychodrama, and Bioenergetic Analysis, she looks to find a therapeutic approach that matches the client’s needs rather than having the client adapt to a single modality. Providing a trusting, empathetic, and supportive setting, Stacie strives to assist clients as they explore their own experiences and develop the necessary skills to cultivate healthy relationships with themselves and others.

Stacie has worked with adults, couples/partners, and groups. Her education and work experiences have been largely devoted to adult individual and group therapy focusing on substance abuse and recovering from trauma. Stacie’s skills also include extensive training in psychodrama working towards becoming a Certified Psychodramatist as well as training in Bioenergetics through the Dallas Society of Bioenergetic Analysis. Stacie has also worked with LGBT clients through a not-for-profit agency.

Stacie has a Master of Arts in Professional Counseling from Amberton University and a Masters of Arts in Communication Studies from Texas Tech University. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Speech from The University of Texas of the Permian Basin.
